A victim was sexually assaulted and lost consciousness in broad daylight on a hill connected to a park in downtown Seoul. Police arrested a suspect in his 30s at the scene안전놀이터.
The Seoul Gwanak Police Station arrested a man in his 30s as a criminal in the act at 12:10 pm on the 17th at a hill in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and is investigating the circumstances of the crime.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of beating and sexually assaulting the victim (rape injury) near the mountain trail during the day.
The police were dispatched to a report from a hiker who heard the victim screaming, “Please save me,” and arrested Mr. A at the scene.
The place where the incident occurred is a mountainside hiking trail about 100m away from the trail connecting the park and the mountain.
The police believe that Mr. A and the victim do not know each other. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, but remains unconscious. The police suspect that Mr. A assaulted the victim using a blunt instrument made of metal.
The police conducted a breathalyzer test and a simple reagent test immediately after the arrest of Mr. A, but it was found that he was not drinking or taking drugs at the time of the crime.
The police said that Mr. A was not subject to wearing an electronic anklet due to sexual crimes.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 18th. He decided to obtain medical records and internet search records to find out if he had a mental illness and if he had planned the crime beforehand.
